Starting with the General Assembly Hall. Underway is the preparatory meeting entitled “Stockholm+50: a healthy plant for the prosperity for all – our responsibility, our opportunity.” In his opening remarks, the President of the General Assembly, Abdulla Shahid, spoke about the need to be united and act quickly to stem the impact of climate change.

The first meeting of the high-level panel of experts on the Multidimensional Vulnerability Index was held today. During the meeting, the Office of the President of the General Assembly, briefed the panel on the terms of reference of its work and the expectations of the Member States.

Over the weekend, President Shahid was the keynote speaker in the opening of the 20th Doha Forum. He spoke under the title of “Transforming for a New Era” focusing on four main areas: Geopolitical Alliances and International Relations; Financial System and Economic Development; Defense, Cyber and Food Security; Climate Change and Sustainability.
