This is important because we have always underlined the significance of diplomacy in dispute settlement through dialogue once and for all. That’s why we got together with the parties at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum and then in Istanbul to become facilitators in a reconciliation process.”

“As a result of the heavy efforts we carried out together with the Secretary-General, we managed to export Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea, finding its way into the rest of the global market. Istanbul Convention that allowed this export I still very much vital. And the exports are gaining momentum as time goes by. This is a critical agreement that was undertaken jointly with the United Nations, and this is one of the greatest achievements of the United Nations in recent decades.”

The President of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, said that the agreement on the resumption of Ukrainian grain exports via the Black Sea “is one of the greatest achievements of the United Nations in recent decades.”
Speaking today (20 Sep) at the General Assembly’s General Debate, Erdoğan said that one of the big lessons we have learned from the pandemic was to establish international solidarity in resolving global threats.
He observed that the global economy, already hit by disruptions in the supply chains caused by the pandemic, is facing yet another new shock wave due to the Russia-Ukraine war.
The Turkish President added, “This is the 21st century, and we have reached the highest extent of financial and technological opportunities. However, in this day and age, still, one-fifth of the world population is crippled at the hands of poverty and poverty.”
He reiterated, “This is the day and age where we need to shed light on our path, and that can only be possible through international cooperation and solidarity.
