“What we need the most is clothing, food, and heating. Me and three families are staying in this tent. Mattresses and blankets just like my sister said. Yesterday was cold, very very cold. We have nothing. Even those whose houses have not collapsed - they are so afraid to go back.”
With a visit to Aleppo, Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths ended on Monday a three-day visit to areas of Türkiye and Syria hit by the 6 February earthquake.
Speaking to journalists, the Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs said that the trauma of the people he spoke to “was visible” and this “is a trauma which the world needs to heal.”
Griffiths added, “And the reason we’re here, is because we want to raise money for the brave organizations which are helping these people of Aleppo, these people of Syria.”
Fekriye, one of the people displaced by the earthquake, said that what her and her family needs the most is clothing, food, and heating.
“Me and three families are staying in this tent. Mattresses and blankets just like my sister said. Yesterday was cold, very very cold. We have nothing. Even those whose houses have not collapsed - they are so afraid to go back,” said Fekriye.
