“We already know that we have eight - and in fact there will be a ninth hospital - that will be coming here. And we know they're taking roughly between 150 to 200 patients every single day.
Gradually, we are being able to address all the injuries resulting from the earthquake.”

“Now, at the end of the search-and-rescue we start the second phase, and that is the humanitarian response where camps are established to provide families with a place to shelter, food is provided medicine is provided, and a number of humanitarian support activities like that. And the UN is involved in all of those activities.”

“Now, we hope that this second phase, this humanitarian phase, will last roughly three months. Then we start another phase, which is the recovery and reconstruction. And there, other agencies of the UN will be involved. The agencies that actually focus on livelihoods, focus on reconstruction, focus on the environment, for example, so that we can restore the economy of the 11 provinces affected.”

The Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator of Türkiye, Alvaro Rodriguez, travelled to Hatay today (02 Mar), a city almost completely wiped out by the deadly earthquakes on 6 February.
He visited a camp and a field hospital, met with communities affected by the earthquakes as well as government officials and emergency responders.
