4. SOUNDBITE (English) António Guterres, Secretary-General, United Nations:
“Our world needs you more than ever. From climate change to conflicts. To poverty and inequalities. To the fact that the Sustainable Development Goals are slipping out of reach. Developing solutions to these challenges — side by side with young people — is the driving force of this Forum’s discussions. It’s the reason behind the new UN Youth Office that will be fully operational this year.”
5. Pan right, participants
6. SOUNDBITE (English) Csaba Kőrösi, President of the General Assembly:
“I cannot see anything that would be more urgent than to reverse at least some of the human-induced damage to our natural resources. To our planet, the only home we have. Keep this in mind – educate yourselves and hold leaders accountable for promises made.”
7. Wide shot, participants
8. SOUNDBITE (English) Lachezara Stoeva, President of the seventy-eight President of the Economic and Social Council and Permanent Representative of Bulgaria to the United Nations:
“The Youth Forum takes place during a time of conflict, compounding economic and social crises, global insecurity, the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the disastrous effects of climate change. The world we live in today feels less safe and less equal.”
8. Pan left, meeting room
9. SOUNDBITE (English) Jayathma Wickramanayake, UN Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth:
“Over the last few years, the UN has taken important steps in that direction. In 2018, the Secretary-General launched the first-ever UN system-wide Youth Strategy, Youth2030, bringing together 131 UN Country Teams and over 50 UN Entities to enhance the UN’s work with and for youth. And as you have seen in the past four years, we've made steady progress in the ways that the UN engages with young people at various levels and the number of young people that we involved with in various levels from country to region to global level.”

11. SOUNDBITE (English) Henry Jevanic, Youth Climate Change Adviser to UN Secretary-General:
“Whilst we do not have much time left to deliver on the global goals, what we do have is a wealth of untapped creativity and potential in our younger generation. I often say the recipe for successful partnerships for the 2030Agenda involves these 3 B’s: Let us BREAK down all barriers which hinder participation of all (youth from indigenous groups, marginalized communities etc). Let us BRING forward solutions, ideas and resources. Let us BE BOLD in our efforts and inspire others for action. After all we cannot do it alone.”
