Dennis Francis of Trinidad and Tobago took oath of office today (05 Sep) as President of the 78th Session of the General Assembly.
The theme of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, opening on Tuesday, 5 September 2023, will be ‘Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity: Accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards peace, prosperity, progress and sustainability for all’.
This morning, the Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, spoke on behalf of the Secretary-General at the closing of the General Assembly’s 77th session.
She commended the stewardship of its president, Csaba Kőrösi of Hungary, adding that the 77th session of the General Assembly has kept diplomacy, dialogue and debate alive, and worked towards real solutions for people and planet alike.
