According to the President of the Security Council, Member States expressed today (11 Sep), their support for the UN-led peace process based on the agreed references and reiterated the urgency for the Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue and a nationwide ceasefire.

Earlier this morning, Security Council members held their monthly meeting on Yemen in closed consultations.

They were briefed by the Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, the Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Joyce Msuya, and the Head of the UN Mission to Support the Hodeidah Agreement (UNMHA), Major General Michael Beary.

After the meeting, Ferit Hoxha, Ambassador of Albania to the UN and President of the Security Council for September, addressed the press.

He reported that MemberSstates reiterated the importance of making rapid and tangible progress in the current discussions in Yemen.

The members of the Security Council also stressed the need to maintain the prevailing calm and ensure unhindered humanitarian access.

They also welcomed Saudi Arabia and Oman delegations’ ongoing support of the mediation efforts of the United Nations.
