On Friday (22 Dec), the United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix, met the Central African Republic President Faustin Archange Touadera at the Presidential Palace in Bangui.
At this meeting were some government members, the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in the Central African Republic, Valentine Rugwabiza, and her deputy, Joanne Adamson.
The objective of the meeting was to assess the security and political situation, particularly the implementation of the peace agreement and the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2659.

Lacroix and Rugwabiza also met in Bangui with the President of the National Assembly, Mathieu Simplice Sarandji.
The discussion focused on working in synergy and the perspective of local elections.

United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations also met with the accredited diplomatic corps in the Central African Republic, the civil society, religious leaders, and students from the University of Bangui on issues related to security, peace, and international solidarity for the Central African Republic.
