“The Palestine Red Crescent tries to provide full service as much as possible, regardless of the lack of resources, capabilities, and lack of personnel. We have shortages of medicines, and shortage of supplies. The situation is very difficult.”
5. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Dr Haidar Al-Qudra, Manager of Al-Amal Hospital:
“We have opened all the clinics, and the expansion process is ongoing despite the scarcity of capabilities, but there is great pressure on the hospital in terms of patients and the number of visitors. This means that we should aim to increase the hospital’s capacity to accommodate more patients and perform many surgical operations.”

“We are at Al-Amal Hospital in Khan Younis. This hospital, a PCRS hospital, is now resuming services. They provide surgery, they provide OBG (Obstetrics and gynaecology) services, they cover trauma needs and they address all the community needs.”

“More than 800,000 people have moved from Rafah towards Khan Younis and the middle area. Right now, we are at Nasser Medical Complex, where WHO is enabling partners like UK-MED, MAPUK, MSF France, and other health partners to revive this really important hospital. WHO is committed to support Gaza’s health system.”
13. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) Dr. Atef Mohammed Al-Hamoud, Director General of Nasser Medical Complex:
“We are in the process of restoring the complex, as the World Health Organization has graciously supported the complex; the dialysis departments or the dialysis department. The former dialysis section was completely burned down. The World Health Organization provided us with fifteen new dialysis machines to provide the service, and now we can provide service to two hundred and fifty patients around the clock inside the complex.”

With support from WHO and partners, efforts to restore health services at Nasser Medical Complex and Al Amal Hospital in Khan Younis are ongoing.
