“Today, the World Health Organization made possible the deployment of a team of specialists, surgeons and nurses within Gaza City. With this team, we support the health system in Gaza City to be resuscitated and continue the lifesaving activities. WHO continues to support health systems in the entire Gaza Strip.”

“The humanitarian situation is really bad. There's a significant shortage in food and supplies. And for the medical situation it's also it's very bad. There's very poor availability of medical supplies. The staff, the local staff, nurses and physicians are exhausted after nine months of extensive war and extensive injuries. We hope our presence here. As you can see, the electricity keep shutting down.... We hope our presence here would help the local staff to alleviate some of their – basically - problems and help them within the available resources. There is a very urgent need for people and NGOs to come to the north of Gaza because of the type of injuries that we're seeing, the type of cases that we're seeing.”

“Of course, in light of these difficult circumstances, the scarcity of capabilities; lack of medicine, and it is difficult to the point where saline solution is not even available at the hospital, yet to be honest the medical staff from doctors to nurses are doing their job to the maximum.”

“Yamen was injured in the stomach, and his injury led to a rupture of his intestines in the duodenum. Here at the hospital, they tried to perform more than one surgery; they performed a first operation on him, and ten days later they performed a second operation, and a third operation. Every time they operate, they say we are trying and, and their attempts at these operations are on empty grounds; because there are no specialized doctors, and he needs a specialized doctor to treat him as he’s a child and his health condition is very sensitive, therefore it’s better for a specialized doctor to treat him. Even his treatment is not available, they are providing everything they can to the best of their abilities, but what he needs is not available.”

The World Health Organization (WHO) and partners visited Public Aid Hospital in north Gaza to support the deployment of a specialized medical team and assessment of the MSF France clinic regarding wound care and rehabilitation services.
