Joyce Msuya, acting UN Emergency Relief Coordinator, briefed council members on the humanitarian situation in Ukraine as a result of the Russain Federation's armed incursion into Ukraine, specifically missile attacks against several cities on 08 July 2024, including a children's hospital in Kyiv.

The Council also heard first hand testimony from a cardiarc surgeon, Volodymyr Zhovnir, who works at the Okhmatdyt oncology hospital in Kyiv, which was heavily damaged in a missile strike.
