Guyana and Switzerland requested the meeting after OCHA circulated a white note, dated 22 February, on food insecurity in the Gaza Strip. The note was sent to the Council in accordance with resolution 2417 of 24 May 2018, which requests the Secretary-General to report swiftly when "the risk of conflict-induced famine and wide-spread food insecurity" occurs.
