“ With regards to Ukraine, we can consider that the situation at the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant continue to be extremely challenging. You remember what happened on Sunday, August 11th, with a fire at one of the cooling towers of the plant. I was able during my visit to visit it with together with my technical experts, to continue our technical assessment of of the situation and other related important technical aspects to it. “

“This summer had the events in the Russian, region of Kursk, and the possibility of having nuclear safety and security issues related to the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant. I had an opportunity also to visit it, to familiarize myself with the situation there in order to assess what had happened. And most importantly to also bring the message of nuclear safety and security first and that no nuclear power plant wherever it's located should be a military target, should be the object of any attack or hostile use.”

“As you know, in the area of nonproliferation, we are looking forward to a renewed engagement with a new government in the Islamic Republic of Iran. As you know, we exchanged correspondence with the new president, which seems to be very constructive and open to an engagement with the agency and with myself which is indispensable. We have to get to know each other, to understand each other, to listen to each other.”

“What we see is that there is some work, but nothing that indicates a rush to a fast implementation of a big increase in terms of enrichment production. This is a very, I would say, very generic assessment I would concede, but it's what we see. There has been, as you said, some cascade fitting. But then the work continues, but we don't see something that is moving quite fast.”

Director General of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Mariano Grossi told members of the Board of Governors that the situation at the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant “continue to be extremely challenging.”
The Director General today (09 Sep) made his Introductory Statement to the Board of Governors in Vienna.
Grossi said that was able to visit, with technical experts, a cooling tower at the plant Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power which was recently damaged by a a fire. He said that they continued technical assessment of of the situation and other related important technical aspects to it.
The Director General also said, “This summer had the events in the Russian, region of Kursk, and the possibility of having nuclear safety and security issues related to the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant.”
He continued, “ I had an opportunity also to visit it, to familiarize myself with the situation there in order to assess what had happened. And most importantly to also bring the message of nuclear safety and security first and that no nuclear power plant wherever it's located should be a military target, should be the object of any attack or hostile use.”

The Director General also spoke to reporters at a press encounter.
Asked about the Fordow Plant in Iran, the Director General said, “What we see is that there is some work, but nothing that indicates a rush to a fast implementation of a big increase in terms of enrichment production.
