We don’t know where we are headed—whether the sea will swallow us or we’ll be bombed with a nuclear weapon. We can no longer bear this. We used to live in houses and residential buildings. I used to own an equestrian club. Currently, there is a championship happening, but I can't participate with the riders. We hope to know what our fate is and how this will end. Either kill us all at once so we can rest, or make a peace deal to end these events."

Storyline

Sigrid Kaag, Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza visited various areas in the central and southern Gaza on Tuesday (15 Oct) to assess the needs of the Palestinian population and patients.

Kaag began her visit by touring the displaced persons' tents west of Deir al-Balah City, where she met with Palestinian families living in deteriorating tents and listened to their needs and the challenges they have faced for a year since the war and their continued displacement.

The senior UN official then toured the crowded streets of the central Gaza Strip, reaching Yaffa Hospital in the center of Deir al-Balah. She met with several Palestinian patients, including children and women, and listened to them describe their conditions and the nature of their injuries.

At the end of her visit, Sigrid Kaag met with several local NGOs in the Gaza Strip to discuss the humanitarian situation in the area and the efforts of the United Nations and its various agencies to assist the population.
