This requires a very thorough safety assessment and evaluation, which we are going to be performing."

“In general terms, we have to move to a more stable situation, and this of course depends on the overall political negotiation, which will lead to less or ideally no military activity around the plant. This is the first thing. Absent that, what we are doing, what you are doing, what everybody is doing, try to avoid the worst. Repair it as soon as possible. Try to ensure outside power supply whenever it falls down.”

IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi is in Ukraine today (03 Jun) as part of his ongoing efforts to help ensure nuclear safety and security during the conflict.
Speaking to reporters, Grossi noted that this is his twelfth visit to Ukraine since February 2022.
The Director General said that he discussed very concrete aspects of cooperation between his Agency and Ukrainian officials.
He said, “We have been exchanging information and assessments around the situation at the at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, where, as you know, the agency has a permanent presence through mission of security and safeguards support.”
