OCHA / GAZA FLETCHER VISIT DAY 2

UN Humanitarian Chief Tom Fletcher entered Gaza this week for the first time in nine months, witnessing both staggering destruction and the first signs of recovery. The ceasefire has opened space for aid to surge: bakeries are reopening, food and medical supplies are getting in, the few medical centers left expanding their services. “We will get hundreds of thousands of kids back into schools, thousands of trucks on the road. We will do this, we must do this," he said. OCHA

To live, learn, eat, drink water and find bathrooms. Everything I mentioned is a right that should be guaranteed. We want to live, and live comfortably like everyone else. They bombed our house after we lived our best life there. Now our life is tragic and miserable. We simply want a comfortable life and our basic rights.”

And we have a massive task ahead of us. But the people of Gaza are not overwhelmed, and we will not be overwhelmed by what lies ahead of us. We are scaling up the food delivery to try and reach a million meals a day. We will get hundreds of thousands of kids back into school.
