Il faut cesser de tuer des manifestants pacifiques, et il est inacceptable de qualifier les manifestants de « terroristes » pour justifier la violence à leur encontre. Nous exhortons les autorités iraniennes à mettre immédiatement fin à toute forme de violence et de répression, et à rétablir l'accès complet à internet et aux services de télécommunication. Le peuple iranien et ses revendications en faveur de l'équité, de l'égalité et de la justice doivent être entendus. إننا نشعر بالرعب إزاء العنف المتصاعد الذي تمارسه قوات الأمن في إيران ضد متظاهرين في جميع أنحاء البلاد، إذ تشير تقارير إلى مقتل مئات واعتقال آلاف.
قتل المتظاهرين السلميين يجب أن يتوقف، كما أن وصف المتظاهرين بـ”الإرهابيين“ من أجل تبرير العنف ضدهم أمر غير مقبول. نحث السلطات الإيرانية على الوقف الفوري لجميع أشكال العنف والقمع ضد المتظاهرين السلميين، ورفع القيود على الإنترنت وخدمات الاتصالات.
يجب الإنصات إلى الشعب الإيراني ومطالبه بالإنصاف والمساواة والعدالة. ويجب التحقيق في جميع حالات القتل والعنف ضد المتظاهرين وغيرها من انتهاكات حقوق الإنسان وفقاً للمعايير الدولية لحقوق الإنسان، وتجب محاسبة المسؤولين عن ذلك.
من المقلق للغاية كذلك أن نرى تصريحات لمسؤولين قضائيين تشير إلى إمكانية تطبيق عقوبة الإعدام على متظاهرين عبر إجراءات قضائية مستعجلة.
للإيرانيين الحق في التظاهر السلمي. ويجب الاستماع إلى مظالمهم ومعالجتها، لا أن يتم استغلالها من أي طرف.

UN Human Rights spokesperson (OHCHR) Thameen Al-Kheetan said, “we are horrified by the mounting violence directed by security forces at protesters across Iran, as reports indicate hundreds have been killed and thousands arrested.”

Today (13 Jan), in a recorded statement in Geneva, UN Human Rights Spokesperson Thameen Al-Kheetan urged the Iranian authorities to halt immediately all forms of violence and repression against peaceful protesters and to restore full access to the internet and telecommunication services.

“The killing of peaceful demonstrators must stop, and the labelling of protesters as ‘terrorists’ to justify violence against them is unacceptable,” he said.

He also called for accountability for the serious violations.

“The Iranian people and their demands for fairness, equality and justice must be heard,” Al-Kheetan said, adding that all killings, violence against protesters, and other human rights violations must be investigated in line with international human rights norms and standards, and those responsible held to account.

“It is also extremely worrying to see public statements by some judicial officials indicating the possibility of the death penalty being used against protesters through expedited judicial proceedings” he added.

“Iranians have the right to demonstrate peacefully. Their grievances need to be heard and addressed, and not instrumentalised by anyone,” he concluded.
