The election days have become five in total. These decisions were taken based on the first days of election and also to allow the voters to have enough time which was wasted on the day due to technical problems.”

STORY:

Sudan’s Nation Elections Commission today (12 April) announced a two day extension of the country historic voting process. Voting which began on Sunday across Sudan was marred with late opening of polling stations and ballot paper mix-ups at various centers.

Many voters could not find their names in centers they had registered in and long lines were witnessed in some polling stations, with an extremely slow voting process.

Southern Sudanese opposition parties had earlier in the day asked for an extension to compensate for various delays.

This is Sudan’s first multi party elections in 24 years.
