STORY:
Newly appointed Secretary General of the Southern Sudan Referendum Commission Mohamed Osman El Nijoumi has said the target date for South Sudan’s Referendum still remains 9th January 2011 unless it is communicated otherwise by decision makers.
Speaking after a meeting with the United Nations Integrated Referendum and Electoral Division – UNIRED and the International Federation of Electoral Systems (IFES) an international partner providing technical assistance to the Referendum authorities - Mohamed Osman El Nijoumi said that the time between now and the set date for the referendum was very short.

Two senior officials the Southern Sudan Referendum Commission El Nijoumi and the Chairman Prof. Mohamed Ibrahim Khalil on Thursday discussed various needs ahead of a January 2011 scheduled referendum.

The referenda will be the final phase in the implementation of the CPA.
