Storyline

Cote d'Ivoire today (28 November) held its presidential run-off despite tensions and a curfew imposed the yesterday due to security issues.

Outgoing President Laurent Gbagbo and former Prime Minister Alassane Ouattara were competing for the country's top post.

The other two leading opponents former prime minister Alassane Dramane Ouattara, and candidate Henri K.Bewdie voted early this morning in Abidjan.

Following his vote and talking to journalists Ouattara thanked all his fellow citizens and he expressed his hopes to win “with a very large majority the 2nd round of the presidential election ".

The polls had been postponed six times by October 31, when the country held the first round of the election, in which Gbagbo garnered 38.3 percent of the vote and Ouattara scored 32 percent.
