Amadou and Mariam, the famous blind Malian musician wrapped up a visit to Haiti on Sunday (10 April).
Since Friday, the new World Food Program (WFP) Ambassadors against Hunger for the European Union had been visiting various WFP projects in IDP camps and schools of Port-au-Prince.

In Port-au-Prince’s Aviation IDP camp, Amadou and Mariam saw local NGOs distributing food and supplementary rations to pregnant women and undernourished children.
Five thousand families are being assisted 3 times a week here by local NGOs funded with the help of the WFP and the European Commission's humanitarian aid department, known as ECHO.
More than 75 percent of the Haitian population is living with less than $1 per day and half of them have under $1 a day, recalls Anne Poulsen, spokesperson for WFP in Haiti.

The visit, organized with the help of ECHO, ended up Sunday 10 August, with a concert performed at the French Cultural Institute.
The audience composed of ambassadors and chiefs of UN organizations danced on a song against hunger and the famous tune, Un Dimanche a Bamako.
