The Group of 20 (G20) Finance Ministers and Bank Governors met on Friday (15 Apr) in Washington at the International Monetary Fund headquarters in Washington, DC.
Financial officials from 187 countries are attending the Spring Meetings of the World Bank and IMF. This year, leaders are stressing the need to bolster a world recovery with job creation, while tackling high debt levels in advanced economies and the threat of overheating in developing economies.
France is chairing the G20 in 2011 and French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde is chairing the current meeting.
The G20 was established in 1999 to bring together major advanced and emerging economies to stabilize the global financial market.
