Heavy rain has pummelled southern Haiti for the past week, flooding roads and displacement camps and collapsing houses in Port au Prince. Officials say 23 people have been killed and authorities list six people as missing.
The Internal Displaced People (IDPs) living in camps of the capital were amongst the most affected victims of the latest heavy rains as ravines filled with garbage collapsed.
Residents of the popular area of Delmas 30, say that five of their neighbours died in Monday’s storm.
More than 30 houses were flooded here. And assistance has yet to arrive.

It’s not the first time this area has flooded and people here are worried that their houses are not protected from the canal.

As the orange alert for a low pressure system is still valid in Haiti, United Nations humanitarian agencies and national civil protection are organizing assistance.
