Storyline

While visiting Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo last week (18 Aug), General Carter Ham, Commander of United States (US) Africa Command (AFRICOM) promised military assistance for the country’s forces (FARDC) to be able to protect civilians and to track the Lords Resistance Army (LRA).

General Ham also visited the UN Mission in Congo (MONUSCO), where he met with Special Representative of the Secretary-General Roger Meece.

While visiting the center for higher military education (CSM) where FARDC soldiers are being trained, he addressed military students and expressed his wishes for a stronger partnership between the two countries in order to consider other formations for Congolese soldiers.

During his in stay in the DRC, Ham also met with the authorities from the Ministry for Defense and the FARDC.
