“We’ve managed to get today with a joint effort WFP the ship and the logistics and UNICEF with the procurement and delivery 500,000 litres of water that we’ve delivered down to Tripoli. The aim is to get eleven million litres of water and we hope that’s going to come in the next few days. That’s going to be able to respond to the short term needs to fill the gap that the communities here have in terms of water needs.”
4. Various shots, water bottles on dock
As a UNICEF technical team continues to work with the Libyan water experts to restore the water supply to Tripoli, more water bottles are being delivered to the city to ensure that the short-term emergency needs of the population are met.
The first shipment, which arrived on the first of September, is a joint collaboration with the World Food Program.

This shipment will meet the emergency needs of about 24,000 people and from the dock it will be distributed throughout the city and surrounding areas by mosques and other community groups.
In the coming weeks UNICEF will ship in enough supplies to ensure that half a million people have fresh water.
