UN Spokesperson Martin Nesirky said today that Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon had received the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) report on Iran’s nuclear activities and noted with “serious concern” the information that points to “a possible military dimension to its nuclear program” and emphasized again that “the onus is on Iran to prove the nature of its nuclear program.”

Nesirky said that Ban reiterated his call for “Iran’s compliance with all the relevant resolutions of the Security Council and the board of governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency” and that a “negotiated rather than a military solution is the only way to resolve this issue.”

On Tuesday, IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano (IAEA) circulated an updated report on the Islamic Republic of Iran for consideration at the meeting of the IAEA Board of Governors. A copy has also been submitted to the Security Council.
