Mumias Sugar Company is the leading sugar producing company in Kenya. The company has embraced sustainability in its production in almost all its processes.
The company produces its own electricity using the waste generated from the sugar production process. This helps in cost reduction and also in preventing environmental degradation.
Mumias Sugar Company has an ethanol production project whereby they aim at profit maximization and also engaging in clean energy technology.

The company recycles the water it uses and some of it is reused and packaged as safe drinking water. The company also channels this water to the residential estate for reuse by the community.

Mumias Sugar Company is involved in waste management in the factory and also within the local community. This has made it stand out among other sugar producing companies by reducing pollution especially from the packaging material used.

The company also manages a tree and flower nursery. The trees are planted within the sugar zone and distributed to the local community for planting to create water catchment areas.

The company is also using the latest technology in sugar processing, which reduces the amount of emissions. The technology is such that the emissions undergo some treatment before being released to the atmosphere.
