The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that so far, it has been “notified of 30 novel coronavirus (nCoV) confirmed cases, including 18 deaths.”

Speaking to journalists in Geneva, WHO spokesperson Glenn Thomas said that the Saudi Arabia government was conducting ongoing investigations into these outbreaks which were linked to one healthcare facility in Ahsaa.

Thomas said that “since the beginning of May a total of 13 patients have been reported with the virus of which 7 have died. Of the 13 patients 10 were men and 3 women. The age range of the patients is from 24 to 94 years old.”

WHO is encouraging member states to monitor cases of severe acute respiratory infections and said it is working with international experts and countries where cases have been reported. The UN’s health agency also said it is not yet advising screening at points of entry to the region, nor is it recommending travel or trade restrictions.
