Tuesday (18 June) in Ouagadougou, capital of Burkina Faso, Tuareg rebel groups from northern Mali signed a peace accord with government, allowing Malian regular army as well as its civil administration gradual return to the region of Kidal, held by rebels since 2012. The agreement enlists support of French army, as well as United Nations Blue Helmets.

Col. Moussa Sinko Coulibaly, Head of delegation of government of Mali, said, "I have no doubts that this agreement we signed, my compatriots here and me, is a plan to rebuild Mali as a state of democracy, good governance, justice and solidarity."

Mahamadou Djéri Maïga, Head of delegation of joint rebel groups of National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad (MNLA) and High Council of Azawad (HCA) said “I hope that this agreement, outcome of the efforts of all of you and all of us, will be a starting point in rebuilding a nation with all its different groups and in its cultural diversity. And to also allow us to rebuild our lives together, as it was in our past."
