Storyline

A group of Ambassadors took part in a musical performance tonight (10 September) at the United Nations.

The Ambassadors, Antonio Pedro Monteiro Lima of Cape Verde, Simona Miculescu of Romania, Eduardo Uribarri of Costa Rica and Ambassador Guillermo Rishchynski of Canada recently recorded a CD of their music entitled “Ambassadors Sing for Peace.”

During rehearsals, Miculescu, who initiated the project, said her goal was to send “a message of peace through other means than UN rostrum.”

Monteiro Lima remarked that “singing is not very far from diplomatic action, because to sing is also to put people in such a way that they understand better each other and they simply don’t think about war.”

Under the music direction of Emmy Award-winning composer, arranger and choral conductor Gary Fry, the songs performed included Paix Sur La Terre by Miculescu, What a Wonderful World by Monteiro Lima, and Heal the World by Full Ensemble of Ambassadors.
