ILO Discusses Indigenous Population

 ILO Discusses Indigenous Population

10 July 1989

There are more than 300 million indigenous or tribal people all over the world. Whether living in cities or isolated in jungles, they are the most downtrodden people on earth. The ILO recently updated the only international convention aimed at protecting indigenous and tribal populations. The aim is to encourage indigenous people to take part in their country's development without giving up their unique culture or endangering their physical existence.
