Description
On the streets of Sao Paulo, thousands of children struggle to survive. The Government of Brazil, the Catholic Church and the UNICEF provide after-school programs in order to help the children acquire new skills and earn a small income. Through a youth agency, the Secretaria do Menor, social workers meet with the youngsters to determine their needs and to provide them with meals and clean clothes. Further steps to keep children off the streets around the world will be among the topics to be discussed at the first World Summit for Children, organized by UNICEF, at the UN in New York. (3 min.)
