Homeworkers In India Organize Themselves
Throughout India, and many parts of Asia, home-based industries provide low income communities with affordable clothing and other items. Mainly women, home workers too often endure appalling conditions. Educational campaigns supported by the ILO have raised the awareness of women in India. An important outcome was the creation of the self-employed Women's Association, which has greatly advanced the rights of the home workers by providing them with legal and organizational advice.
