Description
A year has passed since the start of the Gulf War. Today the UN Boundary Commission is resolving a long standing dispute about the exact location of the border between Iraq and Kuwait. The 220 kilometer long frontier was defined in general terms in 1932 but many details were open to interpretation. The Boundary Commission, with representatives from Iraq and Kuwait and a New Zealand/Swedish survey team, is using a satellite-based system to accurately survey and map the area. Its aim is to settle once and for all the 50-year-old border controversy.
