Sea Level Rise - Kiribati
Kiribati, comprising of 33 atolls, is especially vulnerable to sea level rise caused by global warming. But island developing countries are not the only ones threatened by unabated climate change. The Low Countries in Europe and the island of Manhattan in New York City are in danger of sinking unless the effects of greenhouse gases are checked. A framework convention for an International Climate Change Convention is still being negotiated for signing during the Earth summit in Rio, in June 1992.
