Rebel troops in Rwanda have agreed to put down their weapons and give peace a chance. The armed conflict has left many war victims and a starving population. The World Food Programme, a UN Agency, is providing thousands of tonnes of grain for distribution to residents in makeshift camps run by the International Red Cross.
