Syrian Women Play A Key Role In Agrarian Development

The Syrian Arab Republic is undertaking efforts to expand its fruit tree production and combat desertification. Women play a key role in preparing seedlings and maintaining the orchards. Their wages are supplemented with food grants provided by the World Food Programme. This imposes their quality of life and contributes to sustainable development which is among the issues to be discussed at the UN Women's Conference this September in Beijing.
