Guatemala's Ixcan Region Looks Forward To A Peaceful Future
Violence is decreasing in Guatemala's Ixcan region, site of some of the worst massacres of the civil war. Part of the credit goes to the UN human rights mission known as MINUGUA. Police, civilian and military peace-keepers are laying the groundwork for the return of thousands of refugees from Mexico. With government support, in the form of credits, returnees are hoping to rebuild their lives in their home villages.
