Recycling In The Philippines

Recycling In The Philippines

19 May 1997

Waste is a major problem in the fast growing metropolitan areas of the Philippines. The inadequacy of landfill sites like Smokey mountains has forced communities to come up with new solutions to waste management. Recycling is increasingly seen as the solution in Asian cities. The World Bank and the United Nations Development Programme have assisted local ventures in cooperative waste management techniques that may remedy major environmental problems.
