UN in Action
After 35 Years, UN Peacekeepers Continue To Stand Guard In Cyprus
Since 1974, UN peacekeepers have monitored the Buffer Zone that separates Turkish forces and the Greek Cypriot National Guard. The Buffer Zone is still considered a hazardous area as UN soldiers continue to uncover more mine fields. With the on-going UN presence the level of tension is at its lowest as the search for a just and lasting solution to the Cyprus problem continues.
