Therapeutic Feeding In Mozambique
An unfortunate consequence of poverty in Mozambique is its high infant mortality rate. Nearly a third of the infants there die from malnutrition and related complications. The malnutrition is considered a by-product of urbanization. To combat this problem, the World Food Programme is providing a high protein mix to hospitals to be fed to infants, countrywide. Called LOA therapy, it will provide a therapeutic feeding lifeline until conditions for the smallest children improve.
