Palestine Football Makes Its Mark With UN Support

The newly formed Palestinian National Football Team recently made history by hosting the Egyptian team in the first international soccer match played on Palestinian territory. In 1999, they played their first match in Jordan where they beat the Syrian team and gained a bronze medal in the Arab games. Their first stadium was recently completed with financial support from donor nations and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
