Since 1971, over 20,000 United Nations volunteers from over 140 countries have contributed to the work of the organization. To recognize their achievements, the UN has designated 2001 as the Year of Volunteers. This story features one volunteer’s work with nomadic herders in the Eastern Steppes of Mongolia.
