Manhole Children In Mongolia

Manhole Children In Mongolia

4 June 2001

During the brutally cold winters in Mongolia, many street children in Ulaanbaatar find their best refuge is under their feet. They are called manhole children because they seek the warmth of the city’s underground pipes to survive. UNICEF is supporting the government’s efforts to send social workers to help needy parents in poor communities on issues of child-care and protection during financially hard times.(3'3)
