Household Security In Sierra Leone
During ten years of civil war in Sierra Leone an estimated one and a half million people lost their homes. Most of these displaced persons are women and children. UNICEF and Africare trained the women in farming and helped them set up women's cooperatives. Once the women return to their villages they put the skills they have learned to immediate use. Earnings from the cooperatives are invested and used to increase production.(4'26)
