Native Indians of the Rey Curre indigenous community have suffered many indignities through Costa Rica’s many efforts to assimilate them. Though small in number, these Central Americans are learning from the ILO and the UN Foundation how to prevent the building of a dam by utilizing their rights to adequate consultation under Costa Rican law. Their main goal is to preserve their land and identity for future generations
