Description

How do you feed Africa’s largest population (Nigeria) when its main source of food – fish – has been severely compromised by pollution and decreasing stocks? Aquaculture, or the development of fish farming facilities, is one viable solution. Fisherfolk in the community of Ebute-Afuye were trained with assistance from the UN Development Programme, to manage and raise catfish. In addition to more food, benefits include employment for thousands, improved living standards and population stabilization.
