Undp Training Reduces Poverty In Namibia

The Ohangwena region of Namibia has been hard-hit by drought. Years ago farmers were able to harvest enough of their crops to sell as well as feed their families. Now, they barely have enough for themselves. The UN Development Programme is funding and supporting a micro enterprise development project to train people in the region in new, marketable skills. Providing farmers will alternative ways of generating income will help to reduce poverty, one of the UN’s Millennium Development Goals.
