Torrential rains and floods have affected more than 33
million people in Pakistan. Nearly 1,500 people have died, and more than 1.7
million homes have been destroyed. The devastation in Pakistan is the impact of
climate change. Scientists have warned that floods across the world have
increased by 134 per cent since 2000.
"Today is Pakistan, tomorrow it could be your country, or
wherever you live," warned UN Secretary-General António Guterres during his
visit to the country, calling for efforts to dramatically boost climate action
across the world.
