Summary
The general debate of the seventy-eighth session of the General Assembly will be held from Tuesday, 19 September, to Saturday, 23 September, and on Tuesday, 26 September 2023. World leaders will discuss global issues.
Description

World leaders gather to engage in the annual high-level General Debate under the theme, "Rebuilding trust and reigniting global solidarity: Accelerating action on the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals towards peace, prosperity, progress and sustainability for all."

Heads of State and Government and ministers explore solutions to the intertwined global challenges to advance peace, security, and sustainable development.

Held at the beginning of each session of the General Assembly, the General Debate provides an opportunity for world leaders to deliver a statement on global issues. 

The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, will introduce the annual report (A/78/1) on the activities of the Organization at the opening of the general debate.
